IN A NUTSHELL
January 6, 2022
Second Kings 12 Luke 12 – 13
Concisely, in a few words, as in Here's our proposal—in a nutshell, we want to sell the business to you. This hyperbolic expression alludes to the Roman writer Pliny's description of Homer's Iliad being copied in so tiny a hand that it could fit in a nutshell. For a time it referred to anything compressed, but from the 1500s on it referred mainly to written or spoken words.
Do I even have a “business” to sell? What IS my “business”?? Who am I, really???
The magnitude of a towering OAK TREE… being in a single acorn… is the epitome of “in a nutshell.” IN A NUTSHELL, “Jesus is Lord.” We’ve all heard that. It has taken me three quarters of a century to get even a glimpse of what this means! This morning, for the first time, the following verses JUMPED OFF THE PAGE and E-X-P-L-O-D-E-D in my face! Is “Jesus” really GOD?
Luke 13:11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
Luke 13:12 And when Jesus saw her, HE called her to HIM, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
Luke 13:13 And HE laid HIS hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Only GOD could/can do that! Can you (can i) imagine being in the presence of GOD?! Actually being in HIS presence, so close that if HE spits-as-as-HE-speaks, you’d feel the droplets on your face??!! Are we really talking about GOD here???!!! Is our flesh, draped over this framework of bones, REALLY the TABERNACLE of GOD? Is HE really within us?? Is HE really so close to us that we can get-in-HIS-face?! As we continue reading into the next verse, a flesh-and-bone human being, just like you and me, is getting in HIS face:
Luke 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation [G23 be much (sore) displeased (in-HIS-face)], because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, and [this flesh & blood human being, as you & me] said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.
Luke 13:15 The Lord [are we really talkin’ about GOD here?] then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
Luke 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?
Luke 13:17 And when HE [GOD?] had said these things, all HIS adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by HIM [GOD!].
Luke 13:18 Then said HE, Unto what is the kingdom of GOD like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? [in-a-nutshell — it resembles a mustard SEED!]
How is it that all the information (not to mention the LIFE) to build a towering oak tree is in a single acorn? Where did that acorn come from?? Where did Jesus come from?? Where did you (and i) come from???
We’ve all heard it said that the BIG SHOT, the CEO, the BIG MAN ON CAMPUS, puts his pants on one-leg-at-a-time just like you and me; and yet, how close to the face of Jesus are we really AND Who is Jesus REALLY? HE calls us HIS “brother, and sister, and mother”
Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of MY Father which is in Heaven, the same is MY Brother, and Sister, and Mother.
Need a “second witness”?
Luke 8:21 And HE answered and said unto them, MY Mother and MY Brethren are these which hear The WORD [TORAH] of GOD, and do it.
Who is HIS “mother”? That’s another nutshell of information and LIFE that seems to escape even the religious poot-n-poots! Hence, their indignation!!
Luke 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation
Read the word, “synagogue,” as assembly, congregation, church, you, me, bla, bla, bla. I find the history of the “synagogue” very interesting. It is NOwhere to be found in the OLD Testament. The first use of “synagogue” (in the entire Holy Bible) is:
Matthew 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.
Mat 12:9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
What about “church”? OLD Testament? NADA, NOwhere, only N.T., and first use:
Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build MY church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
From a compound of G1537 and a derivative of G2564; a calling out, that is, (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both): - assembly, church.
From (the reduplicated form of) G4863; an assemblage of persons; specifically a Jewish “synagogue” (the meeting or the place); by analogy a Christian church: - assembly, congregation, synagogue.
It would seem that we are mixing apples and oranges, here; but, we are not. Only those to whom Jesus is saying, “Thou hypocrite,” are accusing HIM of violating GOD’s 4th Commandment, which is REINFORCED in Hebrews chapter FOUR! (of the NEW Testament) This brings us full-circle, back to WHO we are. If human beings are really HIS Brothers, Sisters, and Mother and we have the ability to be INDIGNANT with HIM, how far have we sprouted from that original seed? How far have we really fallen?? What kind of soil have we actually landed in??? Maybe I’m that proverbial hard nutshell to crack :o)) Jesus, help Thou mine unbelief (Mark 9:24).
Shifting gears, with regard to our nutshell of belief, I am re-reading The Wayne Alderson Story STRONGER THAN STEEL, by R.C. Sproul, “WITH TEARS.” The essence of this book is “The VALUE of the PERSON.” It’s about laying down one’s life for that of a friend. Yes, standing strong in the face of seemingly INSERMOUNTABLE danger. What an inspiration! And I highly recommend this book, available at:
Living together, with dignity, with respect, with the mindset of the value of the person… O! The KINGDOM of GOD!!
Today is January 6, 2022. This morning, the sun is shining bright and the fresh 2” of snow is glistening like a field of diamonds! My intent was to clear the walkways right after my morning Bible reading. While I was reading about “Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity,” our neighbor, two doors away, came down our sidewalk with his snow blower and did our walks and driveway :o) A week ago, the neighbor next door, cleared our walks and driveway :o)) About 3 weeks ago, after our first snow of the year, I cleared their walks and driveway :o))) Next snowfall, I’m up-to-bat (as they say, “what-goes-around—comes-around” :o)))) And speaking of snow:
"COLOR ME GONE"
August 10, 2011
Job 22 Matthew 28
Where do colors come from? Where does the white go when the snow melts?
Automotive paint is amazing! Some of the new colors are a feast for our eyes. What berry grows to produce these colors? Pigments of the earth just don't look that way. Something beyond reality is triggering our senses. Ancient novice Greek sculptors would cover flaws with wax. Flawless sculptures, of the masters, did not have wax and were referred to as "sine cera." Sine = without. Cera = wax. Many believe that our word "sincere" is derived from "sine cera."
About 1975, in a Las Vegas truck stop, the driver sitting on the stool next to me had just been to a nearby used truck auction, that we could see out the window. He said that the used trucks all looked good; and then he said something very profound, "New paint covers a whole multitude of sin."
What do we see? What is sincere? Big bucks were paid to gloss Lucifer's lie regarding Christ's empty tomb and Mathew 28:15 says: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
Roger Lindamood's 1965 Hemi powered Dodge Coronet "Color Me Gone" went from zero to 138 miles per hour in 9.71 seconds on a quarter mile drag strip.
Pop the chute, flame out, game over. That's how fast we sprint from womb to tomb! From the mobile dangling over our crib to the bouquet over our casket, sensory stimulations vie for our attention. What is sine cera? What was life all about? The life of Job gives us a hint of what Jesus is talking about. I say "IS" because the Words of Jesus are as alive today as 2000 years ago! HE IS alive and coming back soon! Not all will be ready, only those who have reconciled with His and our Father in Heaven. Reconciliation is "without wax." Pure and clean in the blood of Christ, a crimson color beyond imagination, that makes us whiter than snow!
May YeHoVaH add His blessing to the reading of His entire Word. Amen.
Eleven years after writing that devotional, here I sit, looking out the window and praising GOD for awesome neighbors, this cozy house, and our BIG BROTHER’s blood that washes us whiter than snow. HalleluYAH!!!
In a nutshell:

Second Kings 11 Luke 11+
I’m a little slow (hence, for such as me, the neighborhood traffic sign says, “SLOW CHILDREN PLAYING” and on that note, it took me a moment to understand the tee shirt, ay? :o)) OK, so like, good day, eh.
Luke 11 has some interesting nuggets-for-thought; for example, when I mentioned how our Apostles prayed at 9:00 AM, noon, and 3 PM and how that seemed like a good example for us to follow (at a men’s Bible study) the argument was that we are to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and the thought occurred to me — we never cease if we never start, eh? This morning, Luke 11:1 struck a fascinating cord with me:
Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as HE Yeshua was praying in a certain place, when HE ceased, one of HIS Disciples said unto HIM, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
Interesting (can you hear my tiny mind munching on this? :o)
It would seem the JATO assist lit up and “we have lift off” in Luke 11:27-28 — from the tarmac of “we three kings of orient are” to “off we go into the wild blue yonder” in loftier understanding of Scripture — we go from the nativity scene in Luke 11:27 to the abrupt TEACHING of Yeshua in the very next verse:
Luke 11:27 And it came to pass, as HE [Yeshua] spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto HIM, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, [“away in a manger” eh?] and the paps which thou hast sucked. [fasten your lap-strap for LIFT-OFF!]
Luke 11:28 But HE Yeshua said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the WORD of GOD, and keep it.
Hopefully, by now, the X-Mass tree is in the dumpster and the 3 imaginary oriental kings are riding off into the sunset. And speaking of kings, who is our king and has he ever read his Bible cover-to-cover as-it-is-written?? We read:
2 Kings 11:12 And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.
In the din of this inauguration hoopla, what is “the testimony”? We see that “gave him” is in italics because it was added by the translators; but, what IS “the testimony”?
It’s a bit of a rabbit-trail to chase the meaning of this; however, bottom line, H5715 of 5707 from 5749 ultimately says that the testimony is a duplicate or repeat, admonition, stand upright, witness. If we ask, WHO copied this duplicate? do we conclude that this king even READ it? It is not stated who copied this “testimony;” however, this we know:
Deuteronomy 17:18-20 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law [H8451 TORAH] in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law [H8451 TORAH] and these statutes, to do them: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the Commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
How many Presidents have done this in the US EH? O! “I brought my Bible”
and I wonder, how many times has he actually read it cover-to-cover as-it-is-written; and, I won’t ask if he ever hand wrote a copy of “the testimony” … eh.
When Donald Trump mentioned, “Presbyterian” with regard to his Bible, it reminded me of the book in my library which I have read, “The Wayne Alderson Story STRONGER THAN STEEL” by R.C. Sproul. This book is a must-read (I think I will re-read it today ). I had the privilege of meeting Wayne Alderson and shaking his hand at a presentation he gave in Billings, Montana. You could have knocked me over with a feather when Wayne told about being on the board of his Presbyterian church. When the board was discussing issues of concern, even with the pastor there, Wayne would quote Bible verses to support his position in the debate; however, he made up the verses to boost his position! Why? Because he knew that NONE of the board members, INCLUDING THE PASTOR, knew their Bible well enough to know the difference! In the 1970s and 80s, salesmen went door to door selling BIG Family BIBLES. They became coffee table ornaments. I saw many on display in many houses; but, I never knew of anyone who actually read it. WHY is that, EH?
I have to ask, does our President read tarot cards? By his own admission, he reads “PALMS.” How senile do we want our President to be, eh? Maybe a child would serve us better:
2 Kings 11:21 Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.
That’s the last verse of chapter 11. If we continue reading:
2 Kings 12:2 And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
“wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him” may possibly be why the next verse says:
2 Kings 12:3 But the high places [of fertility worship, “groves” of erect fir trees carved to look like *#&#* eh!] were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
Jerusalem is now the Capital of Israel; BUT, Tel Aviv is still one of the most pristine LGBT beaches !!!! Is it a far stretch to wonder why Iran wants to wipe Tel Aviv off the map?! Same goes for US EH !!! America HAD her chance to be great again.
Luke 11:28 But HE Yeshua said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the WORD of GOD, and keep it.

Perhaps now would be a good time to stop and mention something that you need to keep in mind as we go through the Mishkan. Many of the treatises on the tabernacle available today, especially those written by "westerners", treat this dwelling place of Tanakh [Old Testament] as a novelty. By this, I mean that it is only a study designed to give the reader some deep insight into the mystical placement of "the Christ" in the Tanakh. The tabernacle itself and all the furnishings are seen as completed and done away with in Christ and are needful only to show the awesome foreknowledge of God, and of course, to reveal the profound spiritual insight of the author. It is absolutely true that even a cursory study of this structure does reveal the awesome foreknowledge of God, but the purpose of the documentation of this structure is much more personal and life changing than simple head knowledge. I have conducted many Passover meals in the last 25 years and the same attitude is displayed by many of the participants. Many comments are, "OH! that was so cute!" or "How very interesting" or "It is always good to see how other religions celebrate!". I have sat in on other teachers attempting to explain the feasts of the Lord to their students. They teach these feasts in a very symbolic fashion, and always leave the students with a greater appreciation of the ancient past. The object of even the most insightful and innocently motivated teachers, is to educate their students about "Old Testament" types, but God forbid that we would actually observe them! In other words, this kind of approach leaves the student with the same emotions you would get after learning about Egyptian burial practices, mating customs of the Sioux, or watching an underwater video of the Titanic. I pray that you will, instead, see and experience YHVH reaching out to all His people of every generation, and speaking straight to them about His desires and will for them. Knowing in advance that His word would be preserved and that you and I would be reading and studying these things as if He spoke them just this morning: an eternal God speaking eternal words.
I am presently following the order of the 25th chapter of the book of Shemot (Exodus). The meaning of the inner veil will be discussed at a later time.
Shemot 25:23-25 Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a rim of gold round about. And thou shalt make unto it a border of an handbreadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden rim to the border thereof round about.
It would be fitting at this time to mention that I have heard several somewhat contrived attempts to place some special meaning to the dimensions of the ark and this table. I do not believe it would enhance this study at all to even mention them. I believe that types, symbols and similitudes should be reasonably obvious and not the product of twisted over-mystifying.
In our study of the Ark we learned, I hope, about the residence of the power of God. This is where YHVH must begin. As we enter the Holy Place we will learn of the next place that He begins to change in those who trust in Him. This is the area of the mind or the "soulish" area. This will give us the power for ministry, for it is the mind that tells the body what to do. The body does not operate separately from the mind unless there is nerve damage, i.e., the body is cut off from the mind. The body cannot choose to go bowling if the mind says we are going swimming! When behavior is exhibited, it is your mind that chose that behavior. The ultimate source of guidance and direction for the mind is found in the Ark or the heart, the residence for the Word of YHVH. If the Word of God is not in your heart, then the mind must take it's direction from some other source. YHVH has placed several items in the Holy Place to teach us about this relationship between the heart, mind, and body. Remember, this is not about how we approach God. That will be seen in the reverse order given after Israel defies the first set of tablets. The first order of Shemot 25 gives us God's work in our lives after we have received His mercy based upon our trust in Him. Before we get to the bread that is placed on the table, please take notice of the fact that the shewbread table is constructed very similarly to the ark itself. It is made of the same wood and gold, only with slightly smaller dimensions. However, it is the same height. This table is called a shul'chan (שלחן).
The word in this form is always translated in the English as table. However, its verbal root is very interesting and appropriate, considering our further study of the bread itself, or Himself. Its verbal root is shalach (שלח). Shalach is the Hebrew verb meaning to send out or simply to send. This word in Greek is apostello (απόστολοσ), which is in English, apostle. Now, you might be wondering what a table and an apostle have in common. Well, the connection is not really hard to see, and gives us some insight into the commonly misunderstood function of an apostle, as well. In the Hebrew culture, as well as many cultures, the table in the home was the place that the family gathered. Here the children learned from their father. It was at this place that every child received life sustaining words (bread) from him. This same table shared this life with friends in fellowship. This led to the oriental and middle eastern customs of not sharing a table with enemies. Information was shared and revealed here.
Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) declared:
Yesha’yahu 21:5-6 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink; arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. For thus hath YHVH said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he sees.
David asks YHVH to prepare a table before him even in the presence of his enemies, knowing that His rod and staff (Torah) will comfort him (Mizemor (Psalm) 23:4-5). To eat at the King's table was to share together as one. In Shemu’el Bet (2Samuel) 9:7-11, David sends to Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, and tells him that he is to now eat continually at the kings table, as one of the king's sons. This would be the place where David would share his wisdom with Mephibosheth, and this is where he would receive food. If the wrong table is prepared it can also be death and despair. The table of Jezebel was no place to be in Melakhiym Alef (1Kings) 18:19, and it is a snare to those in Mizemor 69:22. I believe that rejection of God's instructions are found in the polluting of His table, whether Jew or Gentile.
Male’akiy (Malachi) 1:7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, In what way have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of YHVH is contemptible.
This is contrasted with those of:
Male’akiy 2:5-6 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear with which he feared me, and was afraid before my name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips; he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
This same kind of contrast is evident in 1 Corinthians:
1 Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of Adonai, and the cup of demons; ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons.
God has already set His table, and revealed this table to us all throughout the Tanakh.
The table that the shewbread is to be placed on is no ordinary table. It speaks clearly of the chosen place for YHVH's truth to be set. It is a place that the Jewish people would naturally sit at, but a place that hungry Gentiles would risk everything to eat crumbs from, much less sit at and dine (Mark 7:27-28). Apostles are called by God to be carriers and vessels of the Bread of YHVH. The word apostle is simply the transliterated Greek word for one who is sent. There are more occurrences of this word in the Tanakh than there are in the New Testament. Those chosen and prepared by God are called to bring the bread of life to all. Their mission is to reflect the instructions of God to those who do not know them. The term is not a title but a calling. This word always follows the called one, it does not precede it, as a title. It is never "the Apostle Paul" or "the Apostle Peter", but rather Paul the apostle or Peter the apostle. I will probably teach a more in-depth study of prophets and apostles at a later time.
According to Shemot 26:35, the table of shewbread was to set on the north side of the Holy Place. The entrance to the Holy Place was on the east, so that would mean that when you walked into the Holy Place the table of shewbread was to your right. According to Shemot 25:26-28, the table had the same location of rings and staves as the Ark. As I mentioned before, this table is made of the same materials as the Ark, as well. The source of the power for ministry is made of the same material as the source for the power of regeneration and reconciliation. The manna placed in the ark was the bread of life, new life, or regenerated life. The bread on this table will be the life sustaining bread. According to verse 29 there were four other items to be placed on this table. The dishes, the spoons, the covers, and the bowls with which to pour. The dishes and spoons were used to contain the frankinscence and spread it over the bread. The bowls were likely used for the drink offerings. See Bemidebar (Numbers) 28:7. These were practical items for the table. It is noteworthy to observe that when YHVH calls us to be a vessel for His word, He gives us all the things we need to carry out His calling, even down to the minor details. The priests need not bring anything with them, for our Creator has prearranged all that we need. Next time we will cover the bread, so to speak!
Shalom Alecheim! [Peace be upon you!]

Have you ever wondered why certain topics aren't ever examined by the leaders of your church? Many of these topics define our life, and play a huge role in the Bible that these churches claim to follow.

Alien Disclosure, robot gods, hydra invaders, and extreme mandate measures have put Bible Prophecy experts in code red. There is nothing new under the sun, so what can we learn from history that would prepare us for a moment like this?
Yeshua the Judge is coming! What is the purpose of life? What are we to do? And how will it all end? The answers are simple, but they’re not easy! Michael Rood shares the plain truth from the Gospels, direct from the mouth of the Messiah — the Prophet we must hear and obey!
Thoughtless people today are very proud of what they consider our very modern conditions and claim that we are very different from our ancestors. Yet, in truth there has been no change in the real fundamentals of life since most ancient times. As one philosopher said, “The more it changes, the more it is the same”. Are you really any better off because today, the bandit that robs you uses a gun instead of a sword, as he would have done 500 years ago? Is it better to have to leap for your life out of the path of an automobile, instead of a carriage? Have we really progressed because you are now made to pay excessive taxes with dollars instead of shekels? Are Russia’s slaves any better off than the captives of Babylon? Nothing but surface appearances have changed, the essential realities must remain the same as long as there are men living on earth.
One of the ancient institutions, which has come down to us unchanged, is the stream of vilification and abuse directed at everyone who protests against current evils and seeks to warn the public of the consequences of continued wrongdoing. Our evils are always organized, because there are always those who have found out how to get money, power, or both out of them. They foresee the end of their wealth and power if the public ever learns the truth. Therefore, they viciously attack everyone who tries to warn the public of what is going on. Of course, this is not surprising, what is amazing is the degree to which the public generally loves only its real enemies and hates its true friends.
About 790 B.C., the prophet Amos was warning the people of the kingdom of Israel of the disasters which must overtake them, if they allowed their nation to pursue its corrupt course. General corruption cannot exist without the encouragement and connivance of the authorities, whose duty it is to suppress it. Just as corruption in high places cannot exist unless approved, or at least tolerated by the general public.
When Amos warned that the evils of the day both weakened the nation and would bring the wrath of Yahweh down upon it, he was accused of sedition, like Yahshua who gave the same warning eight centuries later. We read in Amos 7:10, “Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent to Jeroboam, king of Israel saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.” They also tried to drive him out. Recorded in Amos 7:12-13 it states, “Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go flee thou away into the land of Judah and there eat bread, and prophesy there: but prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel and the king’s court.”
Today, we find the same situation. We find a certain minority group (who were known as Canaanites and are now called Jews) becoming extremely wealthy by promoting organized evils and by their wealth have gained great power in government. This is power which no admitted minority should have. We find them in control of communism elsewhere and by their control of government steering the course of this nation towards communism here. We also find a few courageous men seeking to awaken the nation to its peril. Of course we find the most bitter hatred directed against these men, whose only faults are honesty, patriotism and truthfulness.
Today we still find the same forces are always attacking everyone who opposes communism and they always make the same false accusations. Against Amos they said, “Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear his words.” Against Yahshua they said in Luke 23:5, “He stirreth up the people”. Against all patriots who would warn our nation before it is too late they cry, “Rabble rouser, Fascist!” Every man who says that our American Constitution has proven to be good and should not be changed is said to be extreme right wing. They warned Amos in Amos 7:12-13, “Flee thou away into the land of Judah”. Although Yahshua had done miracles of good, yet we read in Mark 5:17, “They began to pray Him to depart out of their borders.” Today they try, in every way, to bring ruin upon all those who dare speak the truth. The sad thing is they are always able to get many thoughtless people to follow them and stupidly parrot their attacks against all true patriots and against those who would tell them the truth of religion.
Paths of Old - Ancient Paths
Jeremiah 6:16; 18:15; Acts 15:21
“Thus said יהוה (Yahweh), “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves....” (Jeremiah 6:16)
“But My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to what is false, and they have stumbled from their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in bypaths and not on a highway.” (Jeremiah 18:15)
Regular public reading of the Torah was introduced by Ezra the Scribe after the return of the Jewish people from their Babylonian captivity (c. 537 BCE), as described in the Book of Nehemiah 8. In the modern era, adherents of Orthodox Judaism practice Torah reading according to a set procedure they believe has remained unchanged in the two thousand years since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem (70 CE).
“For from ancient generations Mosheh has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregations every Sabbath.” (Acts 15:21)

Enlil was the chief god of Mesopotamia for more than a thousand years. As noted earlier, his “reign” began with the rise of the Akkadian empire in the twenty-fourth century BC. But if we look farther back in history, to the end of the Uruk Period around 3100 BC, we may find another hint at this god’s arrogance and a very clear message from God that he will not be allowed out of the abyss before the appointed time.
I described earlier the effort by Nimrod, who was the Sumerian king Enmerkar, to expand the temple of the god Enki, the E-abzu (“House of the Abyss”), to serve as “an abode of the gods.” This temple, commonly called the Tower of Babel, was not at Babylon, despite the similarity between the names. The temple was, in fact, located at an ancient city called Eridu.
This isn’t as odd as it might seem. The name “Babylon” was used for other Mesopotamian cities, including Eridu. The ziggurat at Eridu is the oldest and, had it been completed, would have been the largest in all of Mesopotamia, a description that’s consistent with the little we know about the career and ambition of Nimrod. It also fits with archaeology of the fourth millennium BC, which, as we noted in an earlier chapter, was when the city of Uruk (biblical Erech), was, with Babel, the “beginning of his kingdom.”
Now we move to the part of Mesopotamia that lies between the areas that were home to the entities we’ve already discussed: Kumarbi, in the northern territory of the Hurrians; El, whose home was in the west; and Enlil, venerated mainly in southern Mesopotamia. In the middle of these territories we find their equivalent, Dagan.
Dagan was the chief god of the middle Euphrates region, the area along the great river in what is now Syria. The entity is still a mystery after two hundred years of archaeologists digging in the Syrian sand. You’ve no doubt noticed the similarity between the name of this god and Dagon, chief god of the Philistines. You’re right—it’s the same god, the one whose idol fell on its face before the Ark of the Covenant, losing its head and hands in the process, a rather important bit of symbolism. Scholars believe the way his name was pronounced changed over the centuries, which is why the last a became an o in English.
A key connection between Dagan and his other identities is the god’s link to the netherworld. One of Dagan’s epithets was bēl pagrê, which has been translated “lord of the dead,” “lord of corpse offerings, lord of corpses (a netherworld god), lord of funerary offerings, and lord of human sacrifices.”
Shamshi-Adad, the powerful Amorite king of northern Mesopotamia in the days of Hammurabi, once journeyed to Terqa, another important center of the Dagan cult located on the Euphrates River about fifty miles north of the modern border between Syria and Iraq. Shamshi-Adad arrived at Terqa on the day of the kispum and dedicated a bīt kispim(“house of the kispum”) to Dagan.

In Genesis 3:15, God proclaimed that Satan would one day have his own "seed" - a literal child - who would be at war with the Messiah - the Seed of the Woman. Could this have been a prophecy of the Antichrist? Has his identity been revealed from the earliest pages of Scripture?
Join Judgment of The Nephilim author Ryan Pitterson as he explores this ancient prophecy. This is part 5 of The Final Nephilim series - a 6-part series leading to the launch of The Final Nephilim.
